How to Randomize Teams for a Card Break

Pair every buyer to a team in one click, run it live on stream, and walk away with a record you can share. No spreadsheet gymnastics, no signup.

5-minute guide

Randomizing teams for a card break should take seconds and leave zero room for anyone to cry foul. Here's the fastest fair way to do it — on-screen, sport-aware, and provable afterward.

What you'll need

  • Your list of buyers (one name per spot — if someone bought two spots, enter the name twice).
  • The teams for the product you're breaking (or use a built-in league preset).
  • The free RipRandom tool open in a browser.

The steps

1

Pick your sport

Choose NHL, NFL, NBA, MLB, or MLS at the top. This themes the tool and unlocks one-click team and division presets so you don't have to type 32 teams by hand.

2

Paste your buyers

Drop your buyer names into the Names box, one per line. Selling multiple spots to the same person? Enter their name once per spot — the tool tracks duplicates so they aren't flagged as mistakes.

3

Load the teams

Hit "Load all teams" for the full league, or "Load divisions" for a divisional break. Breaking a smaller checklist? Just type the teams you're including.

4

Tag your chasers (optional)

Add the hot teams to the Chasers box. They get a ★ CHASER tag in the results and exports so everyone can instantly see where the money teams landed.

5

Roll the dice, then shuffle both

Roll to decide how many times to shuffle, then hit "Shuffle both & pair." Every shuffle plays out live on screen with a countdown, so viewers watch the randomization actually happen — that transparency is what builds trust.

6

Read the results & export

Each buyer is now paired to a team, chasers flagged. Copy as text, copy for a spreadsheet, or download a CSV that's auto-named and dated. Paid plans push it straight to Google Sheets and save it to your break history.

For pick-your-team & divvy breaks: use a race

Some formats don't pair buyers to teams — they need a fair order. Switch to the Race tab, drop in your buyer names, and start the race. Everyone gets a lane, they race live with a clock and a finish line, and the finish order becomes your pick order. It's more fun to watch than a static list and runs on the same fair engine. Make it provable

Every shuffle and race can be shared as a replay link. Send it to a buyer and they watch the exact same draw reproduce from its seed — proof it was random, not rigged.

For a break business, a shareable "here's proof your draw was fair" link is reputation insurance you can't get from a plain shuffle.

FAQ

How do I handle a buyer with multiple spots?

Enter their name once for each spot. The tool recognizes multi-spot buyers so duplicates aren't flagged as mistakes.

Can I randomize teams without an account?

Yes — the tool is completely free with no login. Accounts only add saved setups, history, exports, and provably-fair replay links.

Is this better than shuffling two lists on Random.org?

For a break, yes — it pairs both lists in one step, flags chasers, runs live on stream, and gives you a shareable record. See the full RipRandom vs Random.org comparison.
